Article Processing Charge (APC)

All articles published in Biomedical Engineering Communications are fully open access. The APC is 500 United States Dollars (USD), applicable to papers submitted after January 1, 2026, and ultimately accepted for publication.
Additionally, besides USD, we also accept New Zealand Dollars (NZD).


· Waivers

a. Biomedical Engineering Communications automatically waives APC for corresponding authors from low-income countries, allowing them to be published as open access. The full list of eligible countries is provided below.

b. During their term with the Biomedical Engineering Communications, editorial board members are granted a waiver for one article per year.


· Discounts

a. Corresponding authors from the following middle-income countries are eligible for a 50% discount.

c. Corresponding authors who have published one or more papers in Biomedical Engineering Communications within the previous three years are eligible for a 15% APC discount on every new manuscript they submit as the corresponding author during the eligibility period.
d. Reviewers who provide high-quality peer reviews for Biomedical Engineering Communications may be eligible for APC discounts according to the journal's reviewer recognition policy. Eligible reviewers may receive a 5% APC discount for future manuscript submissions as part of the journal's reviewer recognition program.

Please note:

If there are several corresponding authors, it is advisable to designate one as the responsible corresponding author.

If a corresponding author qualifies for more than one discount, the most advantageous discount will be applied, as combining discounts is not permitted.

Authors submitting manuscripts may choose only one most beneficial discount, and combining discounts is not permitted.
